Here are several things we did in town with IEC students, including checking out a local department store, seeing a temple, visiting some gymnasiums, and going to city hall.

Heather Meadows > Aesthetic power lines. I was really into the juxtaposition of old and new, and I also liked the clusters of power lines a lot. (I'm probably alone in that.) I used this picture later in a piece arguing that there is an aesthetic to the power lines that speaks to the "interdigitation" a UK professor, P.P. Karan, spoke of in his book Japanese Landscapes: Where Land & Culture Merge. (6/21)
